I’m fascinated by the 1920s — those few years between world wars saw heavy exploration of the Earth’s dark corners go hand-in-hand with astounding industrial developments that were happening all over the world.
The American writer H.P. Lovecraft wrote of the Celtic god Nodens in his story The Strange High House in the Mist; Chris Lackey and Chad Fifer at @HPPodcraft podcast turned me on to Arthur Machen’s story The Great God Pan, a second source of inspiration.
Also, there was the classical music of the period; Stravinsky, Dvorak, Strauss and others. I listened to The Rite of Spring and the Slavonic Dances often while I wrote.
